Things to Do in NYC: Summer 2019 Edition

It’s finally summer in NYC and that means there are plenty of things to explore and attend in the city. Summer is the perfect time for friends and family to visit from out of town, so it’s always great to have events in your back pocket. Whether adventuring solo or in a group, here are your top things to do in NYC: Summer 2019 edition.

Bryant Park

Get outdoors this summer with activities in Bryant Park. You’ll find movies, fitness classes, and much more throughout the summer. And, most of the activities are free, so you won’t break the bank. Find the full list of events here.

Live Music

Treat yourself to food truck fare and house music at Nowadays in Ridgeway, called Mister Sundays. The venue holds outdoor concerts in their oversized backyard every Sunday until October 20. Grab some tickets here.

There are tons of festivals on Randall’s Island throughout the summer, like Picknic and Electric Zoo.  If you want to get outside the city, there are quite a few music festivals nearby. Check out Mountain Jam in Bethel Woods or Disc Jam in Stephentown.

If you’re a fan of live music, especially camping festivals, you likely have a ton of gear like tents, tarps, and hammocks that you use just a few times a year. Try Simplify Storage, the easiest way to make room in your apartment in NYC. We come directly to your home to pick up items for storage and return them when you’re ready to have them back. That’s it! No commitment and no hidden fees. Learn more here.

Take a Dip

Cool off and beat the heat this summer in McCarren Park. It’s an Olympic-sized pool operated by the NYC Parks Department. But, be prepared for a long line if you’re going on a beautiful day. Get more info here.

Enjoy a rooftop pool with a great view in Williamsburg. The Williamsburg Hotel offers an upscale, Instagrammable rooftop pool where you can feel like you’re on a mini-vacation. Be sure to make a reservation during busy summer weekends. Also, when booking, ask about their food and beverage minimum for reservations at the pool.

Food Experiences

While there are many restaurants to explore year-round, summer is a great time to check out pop-ups and farmer’s markets throughout the city. Friday through Sunday, you can find a pop-up food market called Smorgasburg in Brooklyn or Manhattan. The largest events are in Brooklyn with 100 vendors to choose from. There are also farmer’s markets throughout the five boroughs. Find a list here.

Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards is one of the newest places to shop and explore in NYC. Take in a live show at The Shed, an art venue that holds events across artistic disciplines including dance, theater, and music. There’s also a smaller version of Smorgasburg on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Hudson Yards. Or, just snag an Instagram from one of many incredible viewpoints, like the Vessel.
